Samsung’s Expert RAW camera app now supports the Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung is extending its advanced camera app, Expert RAW, to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung told us back in February that the app would land on the foldable in April. However, it failed to meet the promised timeline. But at long last, the app is finally available for download for the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Samsung has rolled out an update to the Expert RAW app, which among other things, enables support for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. While the default camera app would better serve most users, some of us desire greater control over image processing and final camera output. If that’s you, Expert RAW will sound like music to your ears. It offers several advanced camera features, including HDR multi-frame capture, full manual camera controls (ISO, shutter speed, histogram, white balance, etc.), and the ability to shoot in RAW DNG format. The app also integrates with Adobe Lightroom, so you can seamlessly export your RAW shots to the app for final editing.

In addition to adding support for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the latest Expert RAW update also brings some notable performance improvements. For one, you can now expect a faster processing time when taking low-light photos. Secondly, you can also expect marginal image quality improvements across various scenes.

Full changelog:

  • Update on the supported models (Galaxy Z Fold3)
  • Faster processing time in low-light environment.
  • Image quality improvements in various scenes.

Expert RAW version 1.0.02.6 is now available for download from the Galaxy Store. Follow the link given below to grab the latest version or update the app from the Galaxy Store app on your phone.

Samsung plans to extend the Expert RAW app to several other Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2. While there’s no concrete release date, Samsung has promised to deliver the app to these devices by H1 2022.

12 new games add support for NVIDIA DLSS and ray tracing, including HITMAN 3 and F1 22

NVIDIA had several exciting announcements to make at Computex 2022. Not only did the company showcase its first-ever Arm CPU, but it also revealed the next-gen lineup of monitors with a 500Hz refresh rate and new RTX-branded gaming laptops. Alongside these hardware announcements, NVIDIA also confirmed the next set of games getting DLSS and ray tracing (RTX) support.

As per NVIDIA’s announcements, 12 new games are adding support for the company’s dynamic upscaling DLSS technology, including F1 22, HITMAN 3, Deep Rock Galatic, LEAP, and Ghost.

Here’s the full list of games that will get DLSS support:

  • F1 22 (July 1)
  • HITMAN 3 (Available now)
  • Deep Rock Galatic (Available now)
  • LEAP (June 1)
  • Ghost (Available now)
  • Loopmancer (This summer)
  • Hydroneer (Available now)
  • Propnight (Available now)
  • Raji: An Ancient Epic (Available now)
  • Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong (Available now)
  • Turbo Sloths (This summer)
  • Wastride Challengers (Available now)

NVIDIA says DLSS is now available for every major game engine, allowing developers to easily add support for its tech to any game. The company also shared that more than 180 games and apps have added support for DLSS since its initial launch.

“Since the launch of DLSS, over 180 games and applications have added the tech, and today at COMPUTEX 2022, we’re unveiling the addition of NVIDIA DLSS to another 12 games.” reads NVIDIA’s official announcement.

For starters, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is an AI-powered video upscaling technology available on select NVIDIA graphics cards. The technology aims to boost framerates and visual performance without putting too much pressure on your GPU. The basic idea is to render the original image at a lower resolution and then use AI to upscale frames for sharper image quality. According to NVIDIA, DLSS 2.0 can boost framerates by 200-300%.

Ray tracing, on the other hand, refers to an advanced rendering technique that allows developers to create lifelike shadows, light reflections, and refractions in a scene.

ASUS unveils an insane 500Hz gaming monitor at Computex 2022

The current crop of high-refresh-rate gaming monitors tops out at 360Hz. While 360Hz by itself is most likely overkill for the majority of gamers out there, ASUS wants to one-up the competition. The company has now unveiled a new gaming monitor at Computex 2022 with a truly bonkers 500Hz refresh rate. ASUS calls it the ROG Swift 500Hz and says it’s a groundbreaking unit that offers the most fluid and fast-paced experience you’ll find in modern esports.

The ROG Swift 500Hz features a 24.1-inch panel that tops out at Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. The relatively low resolution here is understandable given the insanely high refresh rate. We doubt if even the best graphics cards out there will be able to push such insanely high frame rates at anything above 1080p. Just to put things into perspective, the ROG Swift 500Hz draws frames more than eight times faster than typical 60Hz displays in a single second. It’s great because it means you’ll have that much more time to get a leg up on your opponent in esports titles, but it also means your GPU will be put through its paces.

ROG Swift 500Hz with E-TN display

ASUS says it’s using a new Esports TN (E-TN) technology which offers 60% better response times than standard TN panels to make the ROG Swift 500Hz better in terms of responsiveness. It also comes with a built-in NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer and G-SYNC support, which will let gamers tweak their settings to achieve the lowest possible input lag without stuttering or tearing.

ASUS takes a lot of pride in being one of the first manufacturers to push the boundaries of high-refresh-rate monitors in the competitive esports scene. The company has been ahead of the curve when it comes to ultra-fast gaming monitors, delivering its first 144Hz gaming monitor all the way back in 2012, the first 240Hz monitor in 2017, and the first 360Hz monitor in 2020. That being said, this isn’t the first time we’re reporting about a 500Hz refresh rate gaming monitor. China’s BOE was the first one to showcase a prototype monitor earlier this year that could refresh 500 times every second.

ASUS hasn’t shared the pricing or availability info for the Swift 500Hz gaming monitor just yet. We don’t expect it to be an affordable monitor as it’s targeted at professional esports gamers who like to be on the bleeding edge. We’ll reserve our judgments on it for later. In the meantime, you can check out our collection of the best gaming monitors that you can buy right now without burning a huge hole in your wallet.

Logitech launches new MX Master mouse and mechanical keyboards

Logitech has introduced a few new members of the MX Series of products, including the new MX Master 3S mouse and the MX Mechanical and Mechanical Mini keyboards. The new mouse delivers additional focuses on improved comfort compared to the already excellent MX Master 3, while the keyboards are the first-ever mechanical keyboards in the MX series.

All three devices support both Bluetooth and also come with a Logi Bolt receive so you can connect to your devices in whatever way you prefer. They also support customizations via Logitech’s Logi options+ software.

MX Master 3S

One of the big improvements in the Logitech MX Master 3S is that it has a new 8,000 DPI sensor, which is double what the MX Master 3 offered. Just like that one, Logitech says this sensor can track on most surfaces including glass, and it’s more suited for high resolution monitors where you may want to move your mouse more quickly. The mouse buttons have also been upgraded to be 90% quieter, so you don’t have to be distracted by click sounds while working.

Aside from that, this keeps what made the original MX Master 3 so great – it features Lofitech’s MagSpeed Electromagnetic wheel that can scroll up to 1,000 lines per second, in addition to a horizontal scroll wheel on the side. It’s also designed to be ergonomic for long periods of use. There are no left-handed options, but Logitech recently launched the Lift vertical mouse, which may be more suited to your needs.

The MX Master 3S is available now and it costs $99.99, just like its predecessor. You can buy it below.

For keyboard enthusiasts, Logitech also announced the first mechanical keyboards ever to grace the MX lineup. Simply called the MX Mechanical and MX Mechanical Mini, these new keyboards are aimed at those looking for the feel of mechanical key switches in a productivity keyboard. The regular MX Mechanical is a full-sized keyboard, including a number pad, isolated arrow keys, and everything you’d expect. The MX Mechanical Mini comes in compact 65% design, giving you just the essentials for typing and navigation.

Both of the keyboards use low-profile mechanical switches, with the default option being Tactile Quiet Brown switches. In some markets, you’ll also get the option for Clicky Blue switches or Linear Red switches. The keycaps themselves are dual-colored to make it easier to identify which keys are which in your peripherals view.

The keyboards also include smart backlighting with automatically adjust the brightness based on ambient light, including the ability to turn off completely when it’s not needed. The backlight turns on when your hands approach the keyboard, so it’s always ready to go. You can also customize backlighting effects and other settings using the Logi Options+ software.

Both keyboards are available now, with the MX Mechanical costing $169.99 and the MX Mechanical Mini coming in at $149.99. You can buy them below.
