T-Mobile is offering the OnePlus 9 Pro for $750 off with its premium plan

OnePlus has been making phones for a while now, and the latest OnePlus 9 Pro is a beast of a phone featuring a Snapdragon 888 chipset, a 6.7-inch 120Hz screen, and 12GB of RAM. Now, customers on T-Mobile’s premium plans can score one for $750 off when they add a new line. Or, if you prefer not to pay monthly for the phone at all, you can get yourself a OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, or Samsung Galaxy S20FE for free when you add a line on a premium plan too.

The OnePlus 9 Pro launched earlier this year for $1,069. It was highly recommended in our review thanks to its great performance and feature set. The phone is priced at $899.99 on T-Mobile’s website right now, but customers on Magenta MAX can get $750 off that price via monthly bill credits. The only catch is you have to add a new line.

If you rather not have that extra $149.99 to pay towards the 9 Pro, you can snag any one of three other devices for 100% off. Those include the OnePlus 8T, the OnePlus 9, and the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. All three of those devices can be had for free when adding a new line to a T-Mobile premium plan.

The OnePlus 9 is a fantastic device on its own, featuring a Snapdragon 888 SOC, 6.55-inch 120Hz screen, and 8GB of RAM. If you don’t need the larger screen and the extra camera specs of the OnePlus 9 Pro, the base OnePlus 9 isn’t a bad option to save that extra $149.99. If you prefer more RAM, you can consider the OnePlus 8T 5G. It has a slightly older Snapdragon 865 SOC, but you get 12GB of RAM just like the 9 Pro.

Then there’s the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. Like the OnePlus 8T 5G, it has a Snapdragon 865 SOC, but half the RAM at 6 GB. It too is free with a new line on premium plans, though.

The OnePlus 8T+ 5G comes with a Snapdragon 865 SOC, 6.55-inch AMOLED display, and 12 GB of RAM. It's free from T-Mobile when you add a line on a premium plan.

The pricing for a new line on Magenta MAX works out to $30/mo on average. That’s quite a sum of money to add to a monthly bill if you’re not already looking to add a line anyway, so deal hunters that already have a line of service may not want to add another for this deal. If you need a new line though, now might be a good time to join the Magenta network and get a nice flagship for cheap (or free!).

Telegram 8.3 lets you restrict message forwarding, makes it easier to delete older chats

After rolling out Telegram 8.2 just last week, Telegram is back again with a brand new update for its messaging service. Telegram 8.3 is here and it includes several new enhancements such as Protected Content, the ability to easily delete old chat history, global themes, a new option to post anonymously in public groups and more.

To protect your content from being copied by others, Telegram 8.3 is adding a new option called “Restrict Saving Content,” which restricts users from forwarding messages and media to other groups. The tool also prevents screenshots and downloading of media. To enable content protection in your group or channel, go to the Group or Channel Info page > Group / Channel Type > Restrict Saving Content.

The latest update also makes it easier to delete past messages from any conversation. You can now delete messages from a specific day or date range in any one-on-one chat. To clear history in a specific chat, tap on the date bar that pops up as you scroll through the chat which will open up the calendar. From there, select a day or the date range and tap on the “Clear History for These Days” button.

Next up, Telegram 8.3 adds a new button that lets you quickly link a desktop device. There’s also a new option to automatically log out devices after a certain period of inactivity.

Another notable feature is the ability to post anonymously in public groups and channels. To use it, tap on the profile picture located in the left corner of the message bar and select the channel name. After that, messages you post in that group will appear with the name of the channel.

Last month, Telegram eight new themes for individual chats. Now the company is making these themes available for the entire app. Each theme features colorful gradient message bubbles, day and night mode, an animated background, and unique background patterns. You can tweak the look and feel of each theme to your liking.

Telegram 8.3 also adds a few iOS-exclusive features such as the Text Recognition feature that lets you quickly select, copy and search texts in photos; all text formatting options for media captions, and redesigned contact info pages for Contacts, Groups, and Channels.

Telegram 8.3 is rolling out on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Google’s Year in Search 2021 shares a glimpse of what the world searched for this year

Although Google has axed YouTube Rewind, the company is going ahead with the rest of its end-of-year traditions. It has already shared Google Play’s Best of 2021 apps and games, YouTube Music Recap 2021, and some of its favorite Chrome extensions and Chrome OS apps for this year. Now, the company has finally shared the Google Search trends for 2021, highlighting what the world searched for this year.

Google’s Year in Search 2021 showcases all the popular search trends of the year and includes a short film about the most significant trends of the lot. You can discover all the big search trends this year by heading over to this page. It categorizes all the major search trends of 2021 in chronological order, and it also includes a couple of filters to let you narrow down trends based on topics like Culture, Economy, Entertainment, Environment, etc.

All of the search trends listed on Google’s Year in Search 2021 page include a short description, along with shortcuts to share the trend on several platforms. In addition, the page features a quiz with questions based on these trends. When you answer the quiz questions, Google also displays some additional information about the topic.

Furthermore, the top trending lists also let you browse through various search, news, sports, TV, and people trends globally and for each country. Check out the table below for a brief overview of all the biggest global trends or head over to Google Trends to see the complete info. Note that you can click on each trend to see even more detailed information, like interest over time, interest by region, related topics, related queries, and more!

OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 series is littered with bugs

OnPlus officially released the stable OxygenOS 12 update based on Android 12 for the OnePlus 9 series recently. The software release packs several new features including reworked icons, adjustable dark mode, Work Life Balance 2.0, revamped Shelf, and more. However, it seems the update is half-baked and littered with bugs and inconsistencies, with some users even questioning whether it’s really a stable update.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users are reporting a wide range of issues after installing the OxygenOS 12 update, such as trouble making and receiving calls, poor animations, broken Autofill feature, slower Wi-Fi speed, and so on.

What’s even worse is that the update is also missing some customization features that have been an integral part of the OxygenOS experience. For example, you can no longer change icons individually, can’t customize the status bar, can’t disable the Google Feed, can’t turn off the battery icon, and so on. The call recording app and the Advanced Reboot feature are missing, too.

Its one of the worst stable updates oneplus has ever rolled, so many bugs, the biggest among them is if you dont have the phone app on the home screen before the update, you physically cannot find the app anywhere in the phone (Not even in the app manager) You have to always open it from the Play store. The Icon field in personalization crashes, you cannot open google feed most of the time, all the permissions are reset, and the recents menu is among the worst you can see in a phone. I’m not happy at all. Recent task manager cant close all apps, as the last app still remains on the screen after pressing close all button in task manager. Whatsapp parallel isnt able to log on web. No call recording app. Miss the old phone and contacts app. —mkhan8426

Considering, OxygenOS 12 has had several rounds of beta tests leading up to the stable update, it’s disappointing to see the state of the final release. If you own a OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro, you should probably stay on Android 11 for now and wait for OnePlus to iron out these issues.

WhatsApp may log you out of linked devices as part of a security fix

WhatsApp recently introduced multi-device support to a large chunk of its users. Multi-device support is a feature that a lot of WhatsApp users had been asking for and it’s finally available widely. However, you still can’t use it on two different smartphones. If you’ve been using this feature and have linked multiple devices to your WhatsApp account, a new WhatsApp update may automatically log you out of your linked devices.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently rolling out an update that includes a security fix to sync your linked devices correctly. As a part of this update, you may be logged out of your linked devices. The update fixes some issues where the conversations across linked devices weren’t properly synced at times. There were instances where a certain conversation was not updated on either of the linked devices, so if you started a conversation on your phone and wanted to continue it on your desktop, you wouldn’t be able to see the complete version of it due to syncing issues.

As mentioned earlier, you may be logged out of linked devices after installing the update. But you can easily log back into the device by scanning the QR code, just like you did before. The fix has currently been implemented on a beta version of WhatsApp for Android but WABetaInfo believes that it is being tested on the iOS version of the app as well.

To know if you’ve been logged out, all you have to do is open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to the linked devices tab. If you see your linked devices being displayed normally, it means you haven’t been logged out and you probably still haven’t received the update. If you see a message at the top of your screen that says “Your devices were logged out due to an unexpected issue,” you will have to relink your devices.
