Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi just launched the Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max in India, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G chip, an impressive quad-camera array, and support for up to 33W fast charging. The devices pack in up to 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of internal storage, and a massive 5,020mAh battery, making them the most premium devices in the Redmi Note series by far. As with older devices in the Redmi Note series, we expect the Note 9 Pro and the Note 9 Pro Max to be among the best selling devices this year. Samsung Galaxy A70s, Galaxy A6(2018) updates bring Android 10 with One UI 2.0

Samsung’s One UI Android skin received a major overhaul last year in October when the company first announced the One UI 2.0 beta program for the Galaxy S10 series. The One UI 2.0 update introduced all the new features Google rolled out with Android 10, along with a couple of minor UI changes, improvements to the Smart Lock screen, and more. A stable version of the update first made its way to a couple of Samsung’s flagship devices, including the Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note 10 series, the Galaxy S9 series, and the Galaxy Note 9 series. Soon thereafter, the company rolled out the stable update for some of its budget and mid-range devices like the Galaxy M20, Galaxy M30, Galaxy M40, Galaxy M31, Galaxy A30, Galaxy A50s and, most recently, the Galaxy A70. Now, the company is reportedly rolling out the One UI 2.0 update for the Galaxy A70s and the Galaxy A6 (2018).

As reported by Sammobile, the One UI 2.0 update for the Galaxy A70s with the firmware version A707FDDU2BTC2 is now rolling out to users in India. The update measures in at 2025.96MB and packs all of the new features introduced in Android 10. In case you haven’t received the update notification on your device yet, you can head over to the Software Update section in the Settings app to check if the update is available for your device or not. Samsung is expected to release the update in other markets in the coming weeks but, as of now, the company has released no official information regarding the same.

A separate report from PiunikaWeb reveals that the company is also rolling out the One UI 2.0 update based on Android 10 for the Galaxy A6 which was launched back in 2018. The update is currently only available for Galaxy A6 users in France and the company is expected to release it in other regions in the coming weeks. The update, which features the build number CTB9, brings all of the new features released in Android 10, along with the Android security patches for February 2020. In case you haven’t received the update on your device yet, you can download it using the Frija tool which grabs the firmware directly from Samsung’s Firmware Update Server (FUS). It’s worth noting that the updates for both the aforementioned devices are rolling out in batches, so you might have to wait a couple of days before the update notification pops up on your device.

Google rolls out the “Explore” tab in YouTube for Android and iOS

Over the last couple of months, Google has been testing a couple of new features for the YouTube app on Android. Earlier in January, we saw new channel previews in the comments section of the YouTube app, which was followed by new filters for the subscription feed. Just a few days ago, Google officially started rolling out the new filters in the subscription feed and now, the company is adding a new Explore tab to the YouTube app.

In a recent post on the YouTube Community forums, a Googler has revealed that the company is doing away with the Trending tab on the YouTube app and replacing it with a new Explore tab. Google has been testing the Explore tab in the YouTube app for a while and, as its name suggests, it gives you access to Trending videos, along with destination pages for some popular content categories like Gaming, Music, Fashion & Beauty, Learning and more.

With the latest update for the YouTube app on both Android and iOS, the has started rolling out the Explore tab and it should reach all users in the next couple of days. As you can see in the attached GIF, the Explore tab can be found in the toolbar at the bottom of the YouTube app and it is designed to help you find new videos from YouTube’s existing destination pages. Along with the aforementioned destination pages, YouTube plans to add more pages to the Explore tab over time and has requested users for feedback on what they’d like to see in the explore tab.

The new Explore tab will also serve as a home to new features like “Creators on the Rise” and “Artist on the Rise” which will help you discover up and coming creators on the platform. While the update completely gets rid of the Trending tab on the app, its contents will remain a part of the new Explore tab, with its own dedicated section and a quick access button at the top.

COVID-19 (the 2019 novel coronavirus) has quickly come into focus and taken over our daily lives. It has been officially declared a pandemic by the WHO, and people are doing everything they can to slow the spread of the virus. Washing your hands is one of the most important things you can do, but clean hands don’t matter if you’re constantly touching a germy phone. That’s why Samsung is now offering a free “Galaxy Sanitizing Service” to clean phones with UV light.

The Galaxy Sanitizing Service is being offered at official Samsung Service Centers and Samsung Experience Stores in select countries. Samsung is using UV-C light to clean the devices of bacteria, germs, and viruses. This is a much better option than wiping phones down with cleaning agents that can deteriorate the materials. PhoneSoap is a company that offers something similar for in-home use (it’s possible Samsung is using these very same devices).

The Galaxy Sanitizing Service is currently available in Argentina, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the United States, Ukraine, and Vietnam. It will soon be expanded to Australia, Austria, Canada, Czechia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
