What Feature of Your Phone Were You Hyped About, But Never Used?

Phones these days come with a ton of features. Some of these are quite useful, but some toe the line between function and gimmick. Irrespective of the usefulness of the feature, companies and their marketing machinery try their best to get consumers excited about all the new and upcoming features on their devices.

But when the phone actually lands in our hands, we end up figuring out the practical additions from all the hype. So we ask you,

Which feature on your phone were you hyped up about, but did not end up perusing as much? What was the cause of your lack of use? How was the feature marketed, and how differently did it work for you? Was it a Samsung phone 😉 ?

Rawad Rants: Stop Nagging About Jack

In this episode of Rawad Rants, Rawad takes on the anger of the lack of a headphone jack on the new iPhone. Is it really that big of a deal? We have gone through many changes in technology like the change to USB type C. Nobody seemed to be upset about that. Adapters are always going to be needed as technology advances. XDA is Sponsoring The Big Android BBQ, Discounts Codes Galore!

The Big Android BBQ is once again almost upon us! That magical time of the year when developers and enthusiasts from around the world descend on Texas to learn, have fun and eat huge amounts of BBQ! We are glad to announce that XDA will be returning to sponsor the event alongside our good friends at Sony, ideaa, Facebook, and Cyanogen!

The main event of the BBQ this year is: Cradle to Career – Pathways to Success In Tech, a diversity in tech round-table featuring high profile education and tech thought leaders.

"Big tech companies are screaming "we want, no, we need diversity in our industry" – but how do we really achieve that? The skills required to create top-notch code are learned like a second language and the best time to get a person started on the path to code immersion is at an early age. We need to look to our preschoolers and elementary age children to become the highly skilled computer scientists, entrepreneurs, and problem solvers of tomorrow. Cradle to Career – Pathways to Success in Tech endeavors to cut through the noise and go right to the heart of the matter; asking the tough questions about how we get children from underrepresented communities on a path that leads to productivity and meets the current and future demands for skilled engineers and entrepreneurs."

Other talks include:

  • Matteo Doni
  • Marty Ballard: Secure Your Firebase!
  • Chet Haase: Something About Android
  • Russell Holly: Anatomy of a review/ How to talk to developers/ One giant camera comparison
  • Mark Scheel: Android Studio is Amazing
  • Paul Trebilcox-Ruiz: Android in the Living Room – Developing for Android TV and Google Cast
  • James Williams

The report says the head of Samsung's mobile division wanted to release the Galaxy Note 7 quicker than originally intended. Then goes on to say that because suppliers were given new deadlines, it essentially caused the quality of certain components (batteries) to suffer.
