HTC Teases Phone Announcement for 20th September

The HTC 10, despite being a well built flagship and a worthy contender, could not capture the throne in the flagship wars. The competition was just ahead of the curve, and hence, the 10 had to be content with the few runner up positions.

But if HTC's latest teasers are any indication, the company wants to get ahead of the curve edge. HTC took to instagram to announce a phone event dated for the 20th of September.

The only hints that the teaser video gives is that the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor placed on the back. The design also vaguely resembles that of the upcoming Nexus Pixel, but that may be because we are itching to hear more about it. The Pixel phones are up for reveal on the 4th of October; and with Google being heavy in its influence on the hardware, HTC is unlikely to reveal a phone that would not even bear its branding on the hardware.

So what could it be? We're still in speculation territory, so we'll refrain from assumptions (however, let us know your theory). HTC's tagline sure has caught our attention, but it remains vague and open to interpretation. So for now, we wait for HTC to take off the wraps and surprise us.

What do you think HTC has in store for 20th September? Let us know in the comments below!

Honor 6X Gets Certified in China by TENAA

The Honor 5X was a very well received smartphone as it offered some decent specs wrapped around a respectable design at a very affordable price. Huawei's sub-brand is hoping to capitalize on its success with a new device, the Honor 6X. Sadly, specs have not been revealed as of right now, but we can see a dual-camera setup with a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Samsung’s Market Capitalization Dropped by $14.3 Billion

It had been previously reported that it would cost Samsung as much as $1 billion to deal with the Galaxy Note 7 voluntary recall. Today though, investors are getting very worried about the company and many have started selling their shares. So far today, Samsung's market cap has dropped by $14.3 as analysts are starting to predict a very weak 4Q for the South Korean tech giant.

Android Crap: Best VR Headset

While browsing through some Amazon deals, I came across a listing for an Android headset. It was marked down from $200 to be only $15-$18 depending on if you grab one new or used. I decided to pick one of these up to do a full video review on XDA TV.

Compared to other headsets around the same price, the Sunnywoo VR Box has a very premium feel to it. It even feels higher quality than the Gear VR from Samsung.

With the ability to adjust the distance between the lenses as well as the distance of the lenses to your eyes, you can always get the perfect view. It works comfortably with glasses as well, which is import for many people.

The one thing this product is missing is a select button. Most of the time these things will come with some way to interact with your phone without having to take it out of the headset. You'll have to connect a bluetooth controller to get the full experience on some apps.

For only $15-$18 this is a fantastic bargain. I have tried sets that are twice the price of this that don't even come close in quality. Pick up one of these for yourself using our affiliate link.

Honor 8 Sells 1.5 Million Devices in First Two Months

Since the Honor 8 launched back in July, the device has had a fantastic reception, resulting in 1.5 million handsets sold. We've seen positive reviews and a legitimate push by the company to help foster development community with the Honor Hub, and it's all coming together well for them. At the same event that the Honor 8's 1.5 million sales were announced, Honor also announced that in the 999 days of the brand's existence, they have sold 100 million devices, in large part thanks to devices like the Honor 5X, the Honor 6, and the Honor 4C.
